Belfast Design Week 2019
Belfast Design Week is an annual design festival celebrating local and international design venues across the city.
This year we are hosting three events.
Event 1 - Empowerment Through Games Design With Unity
Our first sold-out event is on Tuesday 5th November at UNIQUE at the University of Ulster. Unity Technologies will explore the power of creative game design, how Unity is empowering game designers all over the world and the design processes behind making a 'good' game. They'll answer questions like
How do we play games?
How can you make your own games?
What makes games great?
It's going to a highly interactive and interesting event.
Event 2 - Designing Learning Experiences To Empower Youth
Our second event on Wednesday 6th November between 7.00 pm to 9.00 pm, at the Conor Lecture Theatre at the University of Ulster. It includes a really interesting line up of international and local folks in the education industry. To kick-off, Jean McKenzie will share her thoughts about the important role educators and brands have in being enablers of action. She will draw on her experience as a C-Suite executive at companies like Mattel, American Girl, and The Walt Disney Company and share with the audience how she thinks this is best achieved.
Following Jean, a panel of local educationalists and entrepreneurs will discuss these themes in their context.
The panel will include:
- Beverly Beck, Founder of Star Jump
- Fintan Connelly, CEO Taketen Ltd
- Beverley McCormick, Education Specialist, 3P Learning
If you are an educator, a parent or anyone who wants to see young people thrive in the world today this will appeal to you.
There are still some tickets left, get your tickets here.
Event 3 - Big Design Day Out Crayola Create-To-Learn
Our final event on Saturday 9th November is sold out. Aimed at parents and young people ages 3 - 7, Claire Bethell and Tara Walsh will run a Create to Learn Family Projects Session. An interactive workshop where Claire and Tara will demonstrate how families can support the development of literacy, numeracy, STEAM and social skills their children are learning at school.
All families will be given a Crayola Create To Learn Family Projects Activity Pack. Each pack includes a booklet and animated videos so families can do the Create to Learn Projects at home.
We hope to see you there.
