Untold History
Stories you didn't hear in history class
500+ stories from history you won’t find in a textbook – made accessible through mixed-media animation and punchy storytelling.
Untold is Makematic’s flagship, award-winning history series, breaking new ground in compelling history content for a young audience.
Partnering with some of the best museum education teams in the U.S., including the New-York Historical Society, the American Philosophical Society, American Battlefield Trust, White House Historical Association and the International Spy Museum, we have created one of the biggest collections of U.S. history video content for schools.
Short, engaging videos bring American history to life, touching on the people, places and events that make up the nation. Untold doesn’t just unearth the stories that have not been told before, it also inspires a new generation to love history by telling established stories from new perspectives. What’s more, witty explainers blow the dust off well-known topics to give any teacher's classroom a bit of added spark.
Untold is a co-production with the Driving Force Institute for Public Engagement with additional funding from Northern Ireland Screen. It's won multiple awards including:
- 5 Shorty Awards,
- a Telly Award
- recognised by the American Association of School Librarians as a "Best Digital Tool for Teaching and Learning" in 2021.
