Exploring the National Mall
History of America's front yard
Five educational films bring the iconic landmarks of America's front yard to life for students and visitors
Created in partnership with the Trust for the National Mall, this collection of 5 educational films brings the iconic landmarks of America's front yard to life for students and visitors exploring the new Gateway to the National Mall website.
Working closely with the Trust for the National Mall team, we developed a series of films which explore a different aspect of the Mall's rich history, including the history of its important monuments. We tell the stories of the Mall's origins from Pierre L'Enfant's grand vision, to its role as America's premier civic stage for demonstrations and celebrations. We take a closer look at key landmarks, from the towering Washington Monument to the humble Lockkeeper's House, exploring why these places matter.
The films are designed to engage middle school learners with clear, dynamic narratives, using mixed media animation. Looking at themes of democracy, preservation, and civic engagement, they support the Trust's mission to preserve and enhance the National Mall while making its stories accessible to new generations. bringing America's most important public space into classrooms nationwide.
