We are seeking to appoint a full-time BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT EXECUTIVE to build new business in the UK & Ireland.

MakeMatic partner with world-leading organisations to develop bitesize, online professional learning content – with a big focus on technology, innovation and design skills. We then work with government, commercial organisations and the education sector to design innovative new programmes that bring that content to educators in both the formal and informal education space.

Based in our offices in Derry or working remotely, you’ll take the lead on developing (and secure funding for) new programmes. Working closely with the CEO, you’ll be in charge of everything from lead development to initial proposals, programme design to closing the sale – with a typical deal size in the £50-100,000 range.

You’ll have a proven track record in a consultative sales environment and the drive to help us change the way education professionals learn new skills. You’ll more than likely have experience in designing and winning support for skills / education programmes in either the public or private sectors. And you will definitely have results-driven mindset and exceptional presentation skills.

Core Responsibilities

Generate Leads & Managed New Opportunities

  1. Prospecting online and via industry events
  2. Supporting the development of marcomms and sales materials
  3. Attendance at trade shows, conference and other relevant event
  4. Manage own diary of appointments
  5. Update CRM
  6. Undertake prospect meetings
  7. Participate in social media activity

Develop Compelling Proposals and Presentations

  1. Develop initial proposals
  2. Develop and deliver in-person presentations to senior management within prospect organisations
  3. Respond to published RfPs and tender opportunities
  4. Represent the company at occasional public speaking opportunities

Close New Business

  1. Negotiate project proposals, budgets and key performance indicators
  2. Managing project contracts with support of 3rd party legal advisors
  3. Deliver on-boarding / hand-over workshops for internal and freelance delivery staff
  4. Provide ad hoc project management support
  5. Account management to secure recurring business

Advise Senior Management

  1. Devise new business development strategies and present them to the senior management team
  2. Provide weekly updates on your project proposals
  3. Participate in company-wide strategic planning session
  4. If based remotely, attend management meetings at our offices in Derry, N. Ireland. These meetings will take place a minimum of once per month
  5. Identify and report on marketplace insight

 

Required

  1. Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills
  2. A track record of success in a consultative sales process
  3. Amazing presentation skills
  4. Ability to craft compelling written proposals
  5. Proven ability to develop new prospects
  6. Experience in a sales / business development role in one or more of the following sectors
    1. Education (primary & post-primary)
    2. Public sector & publicly funded bodies
    3. Corporate sponsorship and/or CSR
  7. Ability and willingness to travel throughout the UK and Ireland


Advantageous

  1. Experience of securing public funding
  2. Established contacts within one or more of the target sectors named above
  3. Knowledge of typical CRM platforms
  4. Own transport
